Blue Satin Sashes

Here's a girl in a blue satin sash...with her sisters.  They're my favorites!

Twenty years ago I never thought I'd say this, but I sure do wish they were little again.  There are so many things I'd do differently.  I would scold them less, and love them more, spend less time at work and more time with them,  worry less about staying clean and spend more time having fun, spend more time teaching and less time on my selfish interests...

One day, very close to the time this picture was taken, the sash girl spilled her milk and her mother said to her, "Oh ____, shame on you."  The girl looked down, examined her clothes carefully, then exclaimed, "Mommy, there's no any shame on me!"

Out of the mouth of babes...

"Things the children do and say,
That I will smile about, perhaps,
Some future, lonelier day."
